We have a position open at our foodbank for a

Food Bank Operations Manager

  • Job Type: Full Time
  • Reports to Director
  • Salary: $50,000 Plus Benefits


We are looking for a new position to build our capacity in serving the hunger-related needs of our
community based in Mount Vernon, WA. This person would manage the food bank operations
including inventory and ordering, oversee sorting and preparing collected for in compliance with all
local, state and national guidelines. Other essential functions include:

  • Monitoring safety of equipment and facilities
  • Prepare for distribution days (Tuesdays)
  • Keep accurate data and upload into appropriate databases. This includes preparing reports
    as needed
  • Be responsive and aware of client needs during distribution days
  • Solve problems efficiently with compassion
  • Use equipment and computer software to support operations
  • Understand flow and logistic operations in a proactive manner (Foreseeability)
  • Oversee Volunteer coordination and training
  • Establish and train for efficient operations of the food bank
  • Understand and enforcing Neighbors in Need Food Bank Policies

Qualifications

  • Experience with or strong interest in food outreach and/or food justice
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral (Dual language desired)
  • Prior food or kitchen experience including a working knowledge of food safety
  • Ability to engage clients and volunteers from all walks of life in respectful conversation and de-escalations skills if needed
  • Valid WA State Driver’s License
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Possess or willingness to obtain a WA State food worker card
  • Experience in food banks, non-profit, or related agencies
  • Ability to use common software applications
  • Word processing/Keyboarding with minimum 30 words per minute
  • Experience with grant writing

Physical requirements

  • Moderate to heaving lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Able to bend, squat, kneel, etc.
  • Climb stairs
  • Push/Pull for activities such as to use a hand truck
  • Reach above the shoulder
