Food Bank Truck

Right now, Neighbors In Need has a few spaces available for new Mobile Food clients.

Mobile Food is a supplementary program for those who are unable to visit us during our regular distribution days due to disability, age or illness. We deliver a box of roughly 25lbs of food to your house once every 2 weeks.

There are a few requirements to become a Mobile Food Client. These are as follows:

  • Applicant is a resident of Mount Vernon
  • Applicant is unable to access local food bank due to:
    • Documented disability which prevents the individual or member of the household from accessing food bank services

Or two or more of the following circumstances apply to the applicant:

  • Lacks available transportation (public or private)
  • Experiences extreme hardship using public transportation, and/or other extenuating circumstances
  • Does not reside within walking distance from a mass transit system (½ mile)
  • Does not reside within walking distance from a food bank (½ mile)

If you, or someone you know, fulfills these requirements and are interested in becoming a client, there are plenty of ways you can apply!

You can either go to our downloads page and download the appropriate forms and either mail or email them back to us, or you can contact us either by using the contact page, Facebook or phone and leave a message and we will do what we can to get you into our system!

Grocery rescue receipt

Besides the food we receive from generous donors and what we buy from our partners, we also receive food donations from a few select stores, who provide us with thousands of pounds of grocery rescue a year.

These places include;

  • Haggens
  • Cash & Carry
  • Safeway
  • The Food Co-Op
  • Red Apple Market
  • Breadfarm
  • Panera

Without these amazing contributions to our food bank, we would be unable to provide the quality and quantity of food we currently give to our community. With their help, we are able to provide food to over 500 families a month.

We would like to give them our heartfelt thanks for their continued support through the years.
