Skagit Valley Neighbors In Need are always looking for driven, enthusiastic volunteers to help us provide our community with the services it needs.
We distribute food on our distribution days at 1 pm to 6 pm every Tuesday. Our volunteer hours are from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, from 3:00 pm to 6 pm, and 6 pm to 6:30 pm however, some of our volunteers come in around 9:30 am to prepare for the day. We are mostly in need of people to stay for the later shifts from 3:00 pm onward, as well as physically capable individuals who can carry at least 20 lbs to transport boxes of food from the sorting room to the distribution room.
There are other volunteer opportunities available on other days and other hours for the other services we provide. If these would interest you, please contact us and we will inform you of whats available.
These are some of the opportunities we have;
You will be ensuring your station is stocked correctly and ensuring each client receives the correct number of items from your station, removing any inedible items and keeping your area free from trash.
You will be ensuring stations 2-6 have enough food to distribute by moving boxes from the storage room to the distribution room. You need to be able to lift a minimum of 20lbs unaided.
You will help make up the bags we distribute to our homeless clients, the bags we give out to children for our backpack program or the boxes we deliver to our mobile food applicants
If you would like to volunteer, please fill out an application and we will be in contact with you. If you have questions, use the form below to send us a question and we will try to answer it.
We can’t wait to hear from you so you can start making a difference.
Community service is limited to 15 hours per person, at the discretion of the director. Please inform us if you have community service.
Children under the age of 16 cannot volunteer unless their parent or guardian is also volunteering. We accept high school students who require community work.
